Introduction of the military Tent Fabrics
1, Nylon (Nylon)
-Features: lightest, high strength, good tear resistance; Strong moisture absorption, easy to relax and sag after wetting; Not sun resistant and prone to aging when outdoors for a long time.
-Common specifications: 15D/20D/40D/70D, the smaller the D number, the lighter it is.
-Coating: best silicon coating, light weight and anti-aging; PU coating is cheap but prone to hydrolysis.
-Applicable: Ultra light hiking, mountaineering, UL camping.
2, Polyester (polyester fiber)
-Features: UV resistant, sun resistant, non absorbent, and does not deform when wet; Slightly heavier than nylon, slightly weaker in tear resistance.
-Common specifications: 190T/210T/300T, 75D/150D/210D, the higher the T/D number, the thicker it is.
-Coating: PU coating has a wide surface and good waterproofing; Silver coating for UV protection.
-Applicable: Family camping, self driving, park leisure, high cost-effectiveness.
3, Oxford Cloth
-Features: Polyester/nylon blend, thick and wear-resistant, strong tear resistance; Poor breathability, prone to condensation.
-Common specifications: 210D/420D/600D, the higher the D number, the more wear-resistant it is.
-Applicable: large tents, canopies, car side tents, advertising tents.
4, Cotton/Canvas
-Features: excellent breathability, no condensation, good texture, durable; Heavy, prone to mold, requiring maintenance.
-Applicable: Glamping, fixed campsites, retro style.
5, TC technology cotton (polyester cotton blend)
-Features: Cotton+polyester, balancing breathability and sun resistance; Lighter than pure cotton and more breathable than polyester.
-Applicable: Mid to high end camping, seasonal tents, inflatable tents.
6, Common coatings and parameters
-PU (polyurethane): good waterproof, cheap, commonly used; Low temperature brittleness and long-term hydrolysis.
-Sil (silicon resin): light, anti-aging, high and low temperature resistant; High cost and difficult to bond.
-Silver coating: UV protection and shading; Mostly used for external accounts/sunshades.
-Waterproof index: hydrostatic pressure (mmH ₂ O), general external account ≥ 1500mm, rainstorm ≥ 3000mm.
